The Riach Partnership was commissioned to design a house extension to a large Victorian property in Cambuslang.
The aim was to allow the owners to be able to use their steeply sloping garden more whilst providing a new garage, studio space, living and dining area and patio space.
The new extension is predominately single aspect and is split into two areas allowing the living/ dining area to relate to the existing house, where the kitchen is situated, and the garden. The studio space is positioned above the garage and is open to a double height area within the main space. This gives a level of separation from the rest of the house whilst retaining a visual connection.
There are 3 large sliding doors which allow the whole extension to open up to the patio and the garden beyond. A crib wall allows a greater connection with the garden area and resolves issues the client previously had with the topography of the site.
