The site of a former petrol filling station in Glasgow’s Pollokshields area, sandwiched between Darnley Road and a railway line, this project has, in one form or another, been in and out of the office for a number of years.
When it returned in the summer of 2009 we took a radical approach to the plan form, maximising the unusual shape of the site. Imagined as two shards of accommodation enclosing a central volume, we currently have a highly efficient scheme of 18 residential units which incorporates large areas of social, amenity space, including a rooftop bowling green.
Discussions with Glasgow City Council Planning Department are on going and we hope to progress the project even further in the coming months.
Due to the complexity of the scheme and the unusual nature of the status of the project we have been careful to document and record the design process in both drawn and model form.
