Our proposals seek to enhance the existing vernacular of the small village of Brocketsbrae which sits south east of Lesmahagow. The site is bounded to the west by the M74 motorway and as such, early consultation was required to establsih best practice in dealing with the acoustic implications of this edge condition.
The varying topography controlled the strategic moves and shaped the layout, influencing the mix of house types to ensure terraces remained on teh level and, where possible, the detached units took up the steepest of the cross site gradient.
The layout was conceived as an holistic development however was designed such that, if required, the construction could be split into two phases.
