Newhaven Church

This commission involved the repair, partial demolition, conversion and redevelopment of Newhaven Parish Church, a Grade B Listed buildings providing 12 apartments, with the existing church premises being fully refurbished below and to the rear of the residential units.

Riach Partnership were appointed by Imagine developments Ltd. at inception to begin discussions with City of Edinburgh Council, Church of Scotland and Historic Scotland to develop and agree appropriate solutions to the myriad of concerns and interests of all parties to achieve a successful conversion and refurbishment of the existing buildings - which were mostly unoccupied as they had been designated as dangerous due to wet and dry rot.

Newhaven Parish Church is situated at the north end of Craighall Road. Set back and raised from the street, it forms a prominent landmark building within the Historic Core of Newhaven's Conservation Area. This historic core of Newhaven affords good views across the Firth of Forth to Fife to the North

The residential accommodation comprises a mix of one, two and three bed flats and maisonettes over four levels with many of the properties having double height living space with balconies over. The refurbished church accommodation comprises a multi-purpose hall, meeting rooms, crèche and toilets.
