Derek Hill

Project Architect

I studied ceramics and sculpture in Merseyside before completing my Honours Degree in Architectural Studies and Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Architectural Design at the University of Strathclyde.

My professional employment to date has seen me work mainly in the private sector with my skill base and experience particularly focused in residential developments, arts and education based projects. I have been employed by the University of Strathclyde since 2003 as a Studio Design tutor within the Architecture Department and currently tutor in the 3rd year of the BSc course.

What was your first job in architecture?: Work experience (age 15) in Glasgow City Council's Department of Architecture where, amongst other things, I "worked on" Fossil Grove in Victoria Park and made a lot of tea.
How old are you in your dreams?: As old as the next man.
What was your first ever job?:I delivered the Extra (a local free Newspaper serving Glasgow’s South Side).
What colour is Friday?: Do you need that as a RAL number? Somewhere between Peroni Gold and Rioja Red.
If you have to choose a movie title for your life story, what would that be?:
"Derek: Just Throw it to the Ducks"
.
