What is a Certifier of Design
for Section 6?

The RIAS-regs Scheme for Certification of Design (Section 6 – Energy) for Domestic Buildings allows qualified certifiers of design to certify that the relevant parts of a design comply with the Building Standards for the purposes of a Building Warrant application. The advantages of this for the applicant are:

The application process is shortened because the Local Authority verifier does not require to check the detail of the design.

The application fee is reduced by 10%. A fee is payable to RIAS-regs for the Certificate of Design although this will be less than the 10% saving.

Riach can also prepare SAP calculations and Energy Performance Certificates which have been required for all new buildings since May 2007. Michael has been recognised by RIAS-regs as competent to prepare SAP calculations.
